North Sand Bluff Lighthouse Complex in Port Edward is an exciting partnership between the National Port Authority, South African Lighthouse Adventure Tours Organisation (SALATO) and Northern Sand Bluff cc.

The complex opened to the public in December 2004, offering "The Best View of the Coast on the Coast" from the top of the Lighthouse, quality holiday accommodation and The Ships Galley Coffee and Curio Shop. There is also a museum with artefacts from the 1552 São João shipwreck off Port Edward and the Lighthouse is the starting or ending point of the
"Aloe Trail" and "Twin Wrecks" Adventure Trail.

The Lighthouse complex is fully walled with electric gates. Holiday unit are individually fitted with armed response and burglar bars. There is on-site parking under shade cloth. The swimming pool is for use by residents only and not day visitors.

Units are serviced daily during the week and private arrangements can be made with the on-site staff for laundry to be done. Sheets and towels are changed twice a week for longer staying guests.

Port Edward has all the necessary daily shopping requirements with two large supermarkets, bottle stores, garages, a Post Office and a variety of other shops and restaurants. The swimming beach is protected and is one of the best on the entire KZN Coast and there are excellent fishing spots.

If you email us your grocery and alcohol requirements before hand then we will arrange for the goods to be in your unit when you arrive from the local OK Bazaars. Note: full payment to the OK must be made within 24-hours of arrival.
